To make hockey for everyone, we must dream big and take action. It’s time we eradicate racism from the sport and help Black, Brown and Indigenous children experience the love of hockey without fear or discrimination. Registration is down in hockey youth leagues. Canadian kids, especially kids of colour, are gravitating toward other sports where people who look like them are better represented.

This is why I am dedicated to the Hockey Diversity Alliance and the Time to Dream Foundation. Both of these organizations work to make hockey more accessible to all children—regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic background. Because no kid should be made to feel they’re not welcome in Canada’s game.
